Kinarm Standard Tests allows researchers to:

Identify subject-specific behavioural measures that uniquely characterize the subject's
neurological deficit.

Choose subjects for research protocols based on their deficit profile.

Develop new patient-centered therapies to addresses the patient-specific impairment
of the brain injury or disease.

Collect objective data on the subject's response to therapies.

Translate treatments for brain injury from lab to clinic Science stands behind every test.

Each behavioral test is grounded in the principles of neuroscience and is designed to assess the underlying impairments caused by the brain injury or disease.

Each behaviour is generated by neural processing across many brain regions and each brain region participates in a range of behavioural tasks. The integration across a range of different tasks permits separation of different brain regions or circuits to identify the foci of potential brain injury. Some of these tasks have been correlated anatomically (Kenzie, et al, 2014).

Tasks engage different aspects of the subject’s sensory, motor and cognitive systems in (sometimes) highly demanding and active behaviors. Each task is easily understood and is short.  The analysis produces parameters that: demonstrate face validity; are repeatable and responsive; provide continuous measurements; and minimize floor and ceiling effects.

A diagnosis of any brain injury or disease can be made only by a qualified physician or psychologist.
